call around to different agencies. but i do think you are getting a real good price if you only pay $1000 a year.

go to a couple of insurance cos. Local and state wide. Check prices. The more info on the house the better the price.

Not sure what state or city in which you live. In Tennessee, that’s a good rate. Check with a local independent agency who is well established and can compare your rates & coverage amoung several companies. Make sure the company carries atleast an AM Best A rating. You can also get additional discounts by placing your auto insurance with the same company.

Get a couple of other homeowner insurance quotes and compare. The premium you state seems very reasonable for a $500K house.

No, there isn’t. You’d have to put in your personal information to get an accurate quote. It’s going to vary wildly, depending on the house (age, construction, etc), location, and your credit score.

But I can tell you, any homeowner in Florida would KILL to have that rate. Heck, it’s a much better rate than I have on my house here in Houston. But you ALSO have to compare coverages – not just the limit, but the actual COVERAGES.

An agent can sit down and go over all this with you.

Check with a few local agents where you live. That premium is very low for such an expensive property. Make sure you have enough coverage for the home, plus your belongings.
